The Structure of the FfE
Board
The Board of the FfE consists of a Presidium, the management team, and other members. At the time of their election or re-election to the board, most external members of the Board are actively engaged in leading positions in the energy or industrial sectors, and serve on the board in a voluntary capacity.
Employees
The FfE employs around 80 people on average. In addition to the management team – consisting of scientific directors, executive management, and project management – our team includes research associates with university degrees from a wide range of engineering and natural sciences, as well as staff in the areas of administration and technology. Beyond this core team, our working students, Bachelor’s and Master’s candidates, interns, diploma students, and student research projects from universities and technical colleges provide invaluable support.
Funding
The Forschungsstelle für Energiewirtschaft e.V. (FfE e.V.) is a non-profit association with more than 100 members from the energy sector, industry, science and administration as well as private members. The membership fees of these personal and corporate members cover a small part of the basic costs.
The FfE recieves no core funding directly from the government, making it independent of energy policy guidelines and directions. The FfE’s research work is financed exclusively by grants from the clients – often combined with application-specific public funding. This ensures the implementation of demanding and energy-neutral research projects that are closely linked to market-oriented issues.
