Since 1977, the Research Center for Energy Economics (FfE) is organizing the FfE-Symposium every two years, which has become a well-known establishment in the German energy sector. On a regular basis, it brings together representatives from energy providers and the economy.
In the beginning, the so called “Schliersee Symposium” took place in Schliersee in Bavaria. But, since 2005, the FfE has been succeeding in hosting it in the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities in the Munich Residenz. Since then, it is officially called “FfE-Symposium”.
The style of the Symposium was mostly influenced by Prof. Schaefer: Young staff members of the Research Center for Energy Economics (FfE) and the Institute for Energy Economy and Power Plant Technology (now: Institute for Energy Economy and Application Technology) get the chance to present their research results amongst leading personalities in energy economics.
This Symposium fulfills the statutory tasks of the FfE e.V. in several ways. On the one hand it provides information on current issues in energy economics, on the other hand it promotes young academics and connects the diverse disciplines that are addressed in the system of interconnected energy economics.
