What costs are incurred in the CCUS value chain and which players are involved?
The CCUS value chain comprises CO2 capture, CO2 transportation and the subsequent permanent storage (CCS) or use (CCU) of the captured CO2. Uncertainties on the part of the players involved, for example due to uncertain investment costs and, in some cases, incomplete regulation, are delaying the establishment of a functioning value chain with associated infrastructure. To ensure timely and cost-efficient planning, all stakeholders from industry, politics and civil society, among others, must therefore be involved. In addition to regional concepts, infrastructure development is also a pan-European challenge that requires reliable international standards and bilateral agreements.
In particular, we therefore deal with the following questions:
- Which players exist at regional, national and international level?
- What costs are associated with different transportation modalities?
- How is an international CCUS value chain structured?
