PV Inventory and Potential: Building-level Geodata

Information on the location of existing photovoltaic systems and usable roof areas for future systems is only limitedly available. The MaStR (Marktstammdatenregister) contains precise location information only for larger systems, and solar roof cadastres usually capture the potential only locally, often allowing only individual queries of objects instead of providing a coherent dataset. Such data is central for a variety of applications, such as grid infrastructure planning, identification of prosumer behavior, as well as municipal energy planning and research.

With the help of aerial images and our AI object detection model DETECT, we precisely identify existing photovoltaic modules in your area of interest. Additionally, we can estimate the system performance and provide geoinformation and the corresponding building address. 

Computation of the roof’s solar power potential
Utilizing available 3D building models alongside our object detection model, we accurately calculate and evaluate the roof area potential for installing new solar panels.
