CO₂ Transport Solutions: Development of CO₂ Transport Concepts (Pipeline, Truck, Train, Ship)

There are various transportation options for connecting CO₂ sources and sinks. In addition to trailer transport by truck / truck or train and transport by ship, the aim is to establish a European CO₂ pipeline infrastructure, especially for larger quantities of CO₂. The Carbon Management Team at FfE is therefore working intensively on the various transport modalities for CO2, their techno-economic parameters, specific advantages and disadvantages and the question of how these can be combined in the best possible way in coherent, holistic transport concepts.

Our offer

We support them in the creation of multimodal transport concepts that take full account of the technological and economic characteristics of the transport modes, the regulatory framework and the location-specific conditions. Among other things, we use the InfraInt optimization model (https://www.ffe.de/tools/infraint-infrastrukturausbau-modell-fuer-wasserstoff-und-co%e2%82%82/). This models existing pipelines, the construction of new hydrogen and CO2 pipelines and the conversion of natural gas pipelines into hydrogen pipelines.

Our services are aimed equally at companies that require CO₂ transport concepts for their specific locations, as well as supra-regional players such as associations or supply companies.
