How Can European Industry Load Profiles Support the Energy Transition in the Industrial Sector?

Energy system modeling increasingly takes place at high regional and temporal resolution. To be able to depict regional differences, the sectors are analyzed individually. Due to the heterogeneity in the case of the industrial sector, the mapping is carried out in an industry-specific manner. In this paper, a methodology for the generation of European industry load profiles – country-specific and normalized – is developed, which derives synthetic industry load profiles based on actual individual load profiles.
