REVEAL CO₂ – Transparency and reduction of CO₂ emissions when charging electric vehicles
The CO2 footprint of electric vehicles during their use phase is determined by the electricity source for charging. However, a major challenge is for stakeholder to determine the CO2 emissions of a charging session. The REVEAL CO2 project was initiated to create this transparency and reduce CO2 emissions when charging electric vehicles.
Project
The REVEAL CO2 project aims to capture and reduce the CO2 emissions associated with charging electric vehicles. The Digital Hub Mobility at UnternehmerTUM brings together charging station operators, grid operators, fleet managers, and OEMs to jointly develop effective emission reduction measures. Through collaboration among the partners BMW, DKV Mobility, E.ON, SAP, and Infineon, a prototype solution was developed to provide transparency and create innovative solutions for emission reduction. The FfE provided scientific support for the project through its expertise in electricity emissions accounting, sustainability reporting, and e-mobility.
Detailed project information and results can be found on the REVEAL CO2 website.
