Cross-Sector Forum on Grid Connection and Integration

Working Together to Optimize Grid Connection

The ongoing dynamic transformation of the energy system—characterized by massive expansion of renewable energy, increasing grid loads, growing volatility, and rising demands for flexibility—presents grid operators with far-reaching challenges. Constraints in the transmission and distribution infrastructure, complex connection requests from new generators and consumers, regulatory uncertainties, and a high need for digitalization are increasing the pressure on all stakeholders to act.

In particular, pressure from policymakers and the public regarding delayed projects calls for greater transparency and a well-informed dialogue with all stakeholders. Understanding customer needs and clarifying realistic implementation timelines are central to this effort and form the basis for the forum.

The Grid Connection and Integration Forum plays a special role among the other FfE cooperation forums. It provides a cross-sectional overview of grid connection and integration issues and facilitates constructive and targeted dialogue with stakeholders from:

  • Data Center Cooperation Forum
  • Electrolysis Cooperation Forum
  • Cooperation Forum on Logistics Electrification
  • Cooperation Forum on Industrial Electrification
  • Cooperation Forum on Large-Scale Battery Storage

The methodological approach

The methodological approach of the cooperation forums includes:

  • Structured dialogue: Creating a space for objective discussions and the joint development of potential solutions.
  • Scientific support: We contribute to the search for solutions by providing in-depth, scientific analyses of current issues.
  • Development of solution components: Our goal is to develop solutions that are supported by a majority of the participating companies.

In addition, we engage in dialogue with regulatory decision-makers and relevant associations.
