For over 75 years, FfE has been active in application-oriented research and science-based consulting in the energy industry, independently and energy-neutral. In addition to our broad technical and thematic focus, we have a strong network in and beyond the energy industry.
Facing a wide range of challenges, interlinking research and practice is more important than ever in order to design a sustainable energy system.
Research creates knowledge – knowledge informs practice.
Independence and neutrality are important to us. We are in dialog with many players and answer questions from a holistic perspective.
The FfE consistens of a team of 80 employees and 40 students. With our flexible structure, we can make optimal use of our competencies from different areas to address current, complex challenges and dynamic developments. We work in a solution-oriented way – this is how we use our scientific foundation optimally to generate impact in practice.
Forschungsstelle für Energiewirtschaft
FfE e.V. is a non-profit association that was founded in 1949. FfE mbH is a wholly owned subsidiary with a focus on consulting.
- Purpose: The education of students and the post-university training of scientific staff is the statutory objective of the FfE
- Funding: Our membership fees account for less than 5% of our annual turnover. Our funding is project-based through the two pillars of consulting and goverment grants for research projects. We do not receive any basic funding.
FfE e.V. currently has around 65 corporate and 60 private members. The members elect the Board every two years, which in turn elects the Presidium.
